Violinist Emily studied at St. Mary's Music School in Edinburgh where she led the school orchestra and the Grosvenor quartet. She was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in London in 2006 with a BMus (Hons) in Violin. She plays with the Westminster Chamber Orchestra and has toured the UK, Poland and Germany with the European Opera. At the RCM she played first violin in recitals of both the Shostakovich Quartet no.8 and the Frank Bridge ‘Fantasie’ Quartet. She has taken part in Masterclasses with Roger Bigley and Christopher Rowland. Her solo experience includes Prokofiev's Concerto no.2 and the Bach and Beethoven sonatas. She played in the final of the Edinburgh festival concerto competition playing the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
Gemma passed Grade 8 violin with Distinction at 14 and attained a Diploma from the Assocated Board of the Royal Schools of Music whilst still at school. She played for 7 years with the Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra, winning the National Festival of Music for Youth twice and playing at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin in the Fields, Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall. She did concert tours of Canada, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany and Finland. She led her college orchestra at Oxford for 2 years and her chamber music experience includes events at the American Embassy and Scotland Yard as well as numerous weddings. She has recording experience for both classical and bands.
